Carlos Alcaraz has recently defended his Wimbledon title by easily defeating Novak Djokovic in the final. The Spanish player, known as “Carlitos,” only needed three sets to overcome his senior opponent. Alcaraz couldn’t hide his emotions during his victory speech at the coronation ceremony.

“Winning Wimbledon has always been my dream. I still remember confessing this when I was interviewed at 11 or 12 years old. And now I have achieved it not just once but twice. I will continue to strive because playing on this wonderful surface and lifting this prestigious trophy feels truly amazing. I can confidently say this is the best tournament, the best surface, and above all, the best title.”

When asked about his secret to winning two Grand Slams within just two weeks, Alcaraz cheerfully shared, “I think my secret is to fight and believe. I feel very honored to be among the few players who have won both Roland Garros and Wimbledon in the same year. They are all legends in tennis. I am not yet on their level. I will continue to work on improving myself.”

In this match, Alcaraz missed three opportunities to secure the championship points early. Addressing this situation, Alcaraz said, “Even though the score was 40-0, I felt the championship was still far away. Djokovic is a player who knows how to create his own opportunities. I tried to stay calm and win the decisive points, but I couldn’t. It was very challenging, but I kept my composure. I tried to think positively and play my best tennis. That’s all I focused on. I’m glad I was able to handle the situation in the end.”

Additionally, Alcaraz congratulated Djokovic for overcoming difficulties to compete at Wimbledon and looked forward to watching the EURO 2024 final.
“I also want to say a few words to Djokovic and his team. It’s really hard to imagine that he could be here. Just a few weeks ago, he was injured and had to undergo surgery. I asked my team for their opinion, and they all agreed that the chances of him competing in the tournament were very slim. However, he and his team made a miracle happen. I truly admire his determination. People outside don’t understand how hard he had to work to be here.
Now, I’ve finished my work. I will watch the EURO 2024 final with my team. It will be an exciting match, and it’s difficult, but you all know which team I’m rooting for.”
