Jake Paul proved to be a formidable opponent for Mike Perry, defeating the bare-knuckle boxing star via a sixth-round TKO in a cruiserweight boxing match held at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.

It didn’t take long for Paul to make his mark. Less than halfway through the first round, Paul floored Perry with a powerful overhand right. The same punch sent Perry to the canvas again in the second round. Despite Paul’s dominance, Perry’s response was lackluster, as he struggled to mount any significant offense.

Many spectators were impressed by Perry’s resilience as he endured considerable punishment while continuously moving forward. However, others were quick to credit Paul for his superior boxing skills, noting that although he still has much room for improvement, he displayed sharper technique than his opponent.

Paul capped off his performance with a third knockdown in the sixth round, securing the TKO victory and solidifying his status as a rising star in the boxing world.

This match was not the originally planned highlight for Paul. Just over a month ago, he was slated to face boxing legend Mike Tyson on this date. However, Tyson had to postpone the fight following medical advice due to an ulcer flare-up. Now, Paul is set to take on Tyson on November 15.

Fighting Perry was a significant risk for Paul. Perry is currently on a 5-0 streak in bare-knuckle boxing, following a 14-8 record in MMA. Tyson had expressed concerns that a loss to Perry could derail the momentum for their November matchup, but Paul remained confident.

“He has some concerns but Tyson, my message to you is don’t worry, I’m going to put this guy to sleep. This guy is a Mike appetizer and then you’re next,” Paul assured reporters leading up to the bout.

This victory adds to Paul’s growing reputation, increasing both the hype and scrutiny surrounding the influencer-turned-boxer. On one hand, Perry’s success in bare-knuckle boxing made Paul’s willingness to fight him a thrilling risk for fans. On the other hand, bare-knuckle boxing is vastly different from traditional boxing, and Perry, who weighed in at just 189 pounds in his last bout, faced a significant weight disadvantage in this 200-pound match.

Regardless, Paul heads into November’s highly anticipated clash with Tyson with undeniable momentum.
