Oleksandr Usyk has once again proven he is the best heavyweight in the world.
Usyk defeated Tyson Fury by unanimous decision in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to retain his WBC, WBA and WBO titles, following up his initial win by split decision back in May.
Their first encounter was for undisputed honours, but Usyk had to relinquish the IBF belt afterwards in order to fulfil the rematch against Fury.
That belt has now in the possession of Daniel Dubois, who last time out emphatically knocked out Anthony Joshua inside five rounds at Wembley Stadium.
During the post-fight interviews in the ring, Dubois interrupted the Ukrainian’s speech in order to demand a rematch, having been beaten when they met back in August 2023.
It was a controversial battle, with Dubois believing he dropped Usyk with a legitimate body shot, but it was ruled a low blow and didn’t count as a knockdown.
Usyk went on to win the fight by ninth round stoppage, but it is clear that Dubois feels there is unfinished business and wants to face his rival again.
There were just two words needed from Usyk to respond to the call out, and it appears Dubois may get his wish.
“No problem.”
The Ukrainian then explained that he would be happy for the bout to be next, once he has had some time to rest and recover.
“Yeah, no problem. I’m ready. Next fight, no problem. Now I want to go back home, little bit of rest and [then] I’m ready.”
Before Dubois can think about a rematch with Usyk, he must first defend his IBF belt against Joseph Parker in Riyadh in February, on the same card that features the undisputed light-heavyweight rematch between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol.
