Isack Hadjar was the last to arrive and with him the grid for the 2025 Formula 1 season has been definitively completed. The Frenchman has finished this year as runner-up in the immediately preceding category, reaching the last round with a chance, but Gabriel Bortoleto ended up prevailing. Even so, Red Bull has given him a chance to go up to the Grand Circus and he will share a team with Yuki Tsunoda in RB. The Frenchman is still someone unknown to most of the Grand Circus public, and he is just beginning to make himself known, for the moment he has already revealed who his idol is: Lewis Hamilton.
Far from choosing to mention someone from the house, the 20-year-old has had no problem praising the seven-time world champion who has done so much damage to the Milton Keynes team in recent years. In this way, next season he will fulfill a dream by driving in the top category, and in turn he will be able to compete against his idol who will continue racing, but now in Ferrari alongside Charles Leclerc.
The idol of Hadjar
In Formula 1, as in all other sports, there is an eternal debate about who is the best of all time, the so-called ‘GOAT’. In the case of the newcomer, he has no doubts about his favourite: “Since I was three years old, I have always been a fan of his and I have supported him during his seven titles, I grew up watching him. He is the most complete out there, Lewis was the driver to beat and the reference for me, so I have always seen him as the best of all time .” In a few months they will be able to face each other in the top category.
With more and more young riders coming through the ranks, the situation has recently been one in which debutants are realising their dream and are taking on the riders they saw on television. The RB rider has had the same experience with the number 44 : “I love him and he inspires me in everything I do. When I started to look at him seriously, I knew that this guy was too good .” The Frenchman is candid and admits that when he started competing, he understood the greatness of what the seven-time champion was doing.
It’s not the first time we’ve heard these statements from a ‘rookie’, but coming from someone who belongs to the Red Bull ‘family’ it’s even stranger. The Briton has been the biggest rival for the energy drink firm, but Hadjar has still enjoyed his drive. The Frenchman opted for the Englishman’s best performances : “One was when he was fighting against Vettel in 2018 and the qualifying lap he did to take pole in Singapore was quite special. Brazil 2021, that weekend was incredible, although I was already cheering for Red Bull a bit.” We don’t know how these statements will have gone down at the headquarters of the Austrian firm, but above all, he has opted for sincerity.
