DANA WHITE is planning on bringing Callum Walsh home to Ireland for his next fight.
The Cork native moved his professional record to 11-0 (9KOs) on Friday evening in California – where he trains under Freddie Roach.
But the legendary former trainer of the likes of Manny Pacquiao and Oscar De La Hoya isn’t the only heavy hitter he has in his corner. He’s managed by White having inked a promotional deal with the UFC supremo. So it was no surprise that the 54-year-old revelled in Walsh’s second round knockout of Carlos Ortiz Cervantes. White shouted high from the rooftops to his massive social media following of 15 million that Walsh is the next big thing in the ring.
Alongside a clip of the finish, he added: “UNDEFEATED 11-0 @KINGCALLUMWALSH is coming home to Ireland for his next fight!” Roach was similarly effusive in his praise, telling Boxing Scene: “When they land, no man can take them. “I know it was short, but I got the job done.
“The best thing about tonight was that I was fighting a guy with a 100 percent knockout ratio.
“He was going to be dangerous – everyone thought – and I went in there and I proved I don’t care.
“I knocked out the knockout artist.”
Earlier this week he gave his first public utterances since the rumours emerged that Conor McGregor may not be able to make his June 29 comeback fight. On that occasion White was more reticent with his words but all indications are that nothing has changed in spite of the suspicions The Notorious may have suffered a training camp injury.
